MEDITATION CENTRES IN MYANMAR

A majority of the population in Myanmar are practicing Buddhists. Because of this, meditation is not only a popular activity; it is a way of life. Foreign practitioners of meditation, also called yogis, can apply for a one month tourist visa. If you wish to practice for more than one month, you will need to apply for a special meditation visa. There are many meditation centers in Yangon and they offer a different enriching spiritual experience. Each center in Yangon cater generously to yogis and have regular meditation schedules so it is convenient to meditate any time of the year. However, if you wish to practise with a teacher, it is best to do so during the rain retreat (vassa), between July and October.
